Billie Pickle: An Inspiring Role Model for STEM

Since science is at the heart of good nutrition, we want to use Billie Pickle to introduce children to the physical effects that food and drink have on their bodies and therefore on their health and well-being.

The human body is a fascinating organism that children need to learn about from the earliest age. Billie Pickle finds a soulmate in Geeky Bug, Rumbledom’s very own inventor.

Everything our bodies need to function efficiently is made by Geeky Bug from fruit and vegetables, without which Rumbledom would cease to function.

The Fab Lab (representing the pharmacy in our gut) and its awesome Choo, Goo, Poo Machine, Rumbledom’s fleet of Veghicles and the myriad tools Geeky creates to help the Belly Bugs defeat invaders show children the wonder of science and engineering at work in our bodies. In our story, as in real life, STEM is magical and fun.

Fibre is fantastic fuel.

Eating fibre from a wide range of colourful fruit and vegetables is the best fuel for our gut microbes. By chomping up fibre, our microbes produce beneficial chemicals (SCFAs) that promote weight loss, optimise our immune system, reduce inflammation and much more.

That’s why fibrous fruit and vegetables are at the heart of everything that happens in Rumbledom. Geeky Bug builds houses, vehicles and tools from them, Chewy Bug chews them up and poohs out fertiliser mimicking the vital role of producing SCFAs, and Bashy Bug adds them to the Poo Pot to help make Perfect Poo.
